As many of you may know by now, I'm artistic, a serial entrepreneur and obviously woman. And, while encompassing all of this innate greatness, let me be the first to inform you it's no easy feat.
By the time we've had the opportunity to fall in love with, obsess over and dissect our favorite women business owners, their dues are paid all while wearing heels, toting around the significance of children and family and oftentimes come adorned with a jagged and well-earned backdrop.

Since my last entry and the solar eclipse (if you read it, thank you and are well informed that the eclipse wore me out spiritually, emotionally and mentally), I've been introspective, shedding and revamping.
Then one random day (just as this category suggests with its random ramblings) I was jolted by the brilliant idea to feature other women in business. Women that are building and creating and experiencing business highs and lows and growing pains; yet they persevere and thrive and strive upwards and progressively. I needed the voice of the collective so off I went to find my tribe, and up to this point have been truly inspired by the beautiful and motivated women I've engaged.
Then one random day (just as this category suggests with its random ramblings) I was jolted by the brilliant idea to feature other women in business. Women that are building and creating and experiencing business highs and lows and growing pains; yet they persevere and thrive and strive upwards and progressively. I've been led to a group of dynamic women and have decided to create a "Sheroic Series" I have no idea when the series will end (I will continue to post Random Ramblings in between the series) because as long as I continue to meet these dynamic women, I shall feature them.

Valerie McDonald and Dan and their beautiful 3 year old daughter.
Valerie McDonald is a Consultant for Rodan and Fields Skin Care, with such an incredible story she is sure to inspire you to keep pushing.
Valerie has a dental background as her journey began at age 18. She worked her way through college as a Dental Assistant and graduated with a BS in Dental Hygiene in 2010. By her own admission, she loved her job and hated to leave. It wasn't until her husband fell incredibly ill (he was told he would need a double lung transplant), that her life would be sharply diverted to unknown territory.
While they resided in Alaska it was imperative for them to get to Seattle as it was a stipulation before her ailing husband could be added to the transparent list. They share a 3-year old daughter that fortunately was in preschool full time while Valerie worked full-time and her husband worked from home.
All extra monies were tied into their home as they were in the middle of a kitchen remodel that didn't go without it's hitches, hiccups and snags.
She continued to push through. Taking it day by day without quitting.
Dan (her husband) left to Seattle before the rest of his family and shortly thereafter was placed on disability at only 60% of his income. Within a month's time she'd sold every possession she could get a hold of; she found renters for her Alaskan home and packed her daughter and dogs and off they went to Seattle.

Faced with severe health issues, being a new transplant as well their financial woes plus needing to find employment, panic began to creep in.
A long lost friend resurfaced bearing news of where she worked while in general conversation. According to Valerie, she (the friend) was doing the necessary work and followed her training to a "T" which yielded awesome results and ultimately when she offered Valerie the opportunity to join her; impressed, she decided to give it a shot.
Valerie quickly found success in it as it allowed her the freedom to work anywhere, including her husband's bedside. Furthermore, she was able to keep her daughter away from what she would call, "Germ-infested childcare."
Her husband received his transplant April 2017 and she was able to be with him every step of his 34-day stay as his caregiver while he recovered. Plus! She made enough money to keep her family afloat.
Even though her situation was tragic, it inspired her.
When asked what she'd tell her 21-year old self if she could she poignantly responded, "Hang in there, it's going to be a bumpy ride." Words of wisdom that we all need from time to time despite our current ages.
She inspires other women by offering them the opportunity to own their own business as well support ranging from conversation starters - financial advice. Finally, her advice to other women entrepreneurs is, "If you are coach-able and work your business...whatever it is...you can and will be successful."
